Announcing the New University Hospitals Diagnostic Institute

September 12, 2017

A Message from the Chief Executive Officer

Septermber 12, 2017

The growth and quality of our health system has been facilitated by an institute model that coordinates our delivery of major clinical services systemwide. Our institutes are designed to advance communications, guide uniformity of care and capitalize on clinically integrated strengths within our broad health system. Through this approach, our patients are assured of receiving the highest-quality care wherever they access the services of a University Hospitals facility or provider.

I am pleased to announce the formation of the University Hospitals Diagnostic Institute under the direction of Pablo R. Ros, MD, MPH, PhD, Department Chair of Radiology. This new institute, reporting directly to Jeff Peters, MD, Chief Operating Officer, aligns the UH Departments of Pathology, Radiology and Genetics, each of which are already respected as top-tier departments nationally. Among the many opportunities for the UH Diagnostic Institute, Pablo will focus on evolving a robust technology platform integrating digital images, pathology and genetics clinical data, creating an integrated diagnostic tool unlike any currently available. The institute will also develop high-level clinical, research and educational programs for both clinicians and technologists, and invigorate collaboration and relationships. Himanshu Pandya, Vice President for Radiology and Laboratory Services, will report directly to Pablo.

Pablo is the Theodore J. Castele University Professor and Chairman, Department of Radiology, and Professor of Pathology with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He also serves as Radiologist-in-Chief for the University Hospitals system. Pablo received his MD and PhD degrees from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in Spain, and his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in body imaging at Mount Sinai Medical Center/University of Miami in Florida.

Prior to joining UH, Pablo held academic and leadership appointments at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, University of Florida, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and served as Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of University Radiologists and is the Physician-in-Chief of the Education Center of the American College of Radiology.

Please join me in congratulating Pablo on his new leadership role. Our patients will benefit from his leadership and the extension of our institute model to include UH Radiology and Pathology services.

Sincerely,

Thomas F. Zenty III
